In a way its SUPERIOR compared to the Z06. Probably the ZL1 would follow closely the Z06 on a track because of weight and aerodinamics differences, but it would be more dependable and easier to drive fast.

I think lap for lap on a 30+ minute race things equal out. I think the Z06 design is just at it's maximum functionality. Practically speaking it can't handle more HP. It's not a great handling car any longer. That may be opinion but it's a prevailing one in my circle at the track and I think it is why GM has moved on to the MR design. If I was going to spen 100K on a coupe it would be a used 911, not a Z06.
As far as over-heating is concerned on the ZL1, I have not come close to experiencing it yet. We'll see in the coming months. The Vette guys are running spacers on their hoods to force more air in. Overall kind of why I think this Camaro is a better track car than the Corvette Z06. I would get filleted in some forums for that statement, I presume.
The back seat may not be functional but it saves you a lot of money on your insurance over the 2-seater. I think it's great for groceries and a jacket. It's also a permanent home for my helmet
I have to wonder if the ZL1 1LE will eventually become available in the A10. I think I would get it. Right now, I am trying pretty hard to find where the power drops off in the RPM range on the M6. I find it a little difficult to know whether I should have stayed in 4th or picked up 5th on long straights. Seat of the pants is telling me to stay in it but I think I'm getting another couple MPH out of the shift. Some straights are no-brainers, and some are really tough. The A10 would solve that for me. But I do love the long spread of power in 3 and 4. I can use the torque to get forward power even on gross short shifts. What an amazing engine. Anybody else working out that shifting nuance?
