Vintage you need to relax some and take a breather. This is not an overnight process at all. Let the dealer do their job and let the process play out. I just got done emailing the Chief Engineer over the Camaro line last week and we had talks about track day events and the very open GM track day warranty. He said that as long as the vehicle was stock and the owners followed the track day setup guide the owner would be covered.
GM is one of the only manufactures out there who is offering to allow the OEM warranty to cover their vehicles on the track, no other manufactures are currently doing that from what I read.
So with that I am sure the GM Engineers are just wanting some data to see what caused the failure and see if something needs to be revised or changed so no other catastrostic failures happen to other owners.
Sometimes being the first owner to have the failure leads to some baby steps being taken along the way. Hopefully this wasn't your daily driver, at least they have you in a loaner car as of now.
