OK so Sledgehammer started a thread about this topic and I said no way that Chevy would build a ZL1-1LE before they build a 2SS-1LE. Well.... I'm battling 0 for 100 trying to out guess Chevy. One of these days maybe I will learn to keep my opinions to myself.

I'm very surprised with the new ZL1-1LE, from all the spy shots I thought for sure it would be the new Z28. At least I was not alone on that guess but it did not bring my average up at all. I will go out on a limb and say I'm not really sure about a possible Z28 in the future to line up with this car but remember I am 0 for 100 so far.

Full disclosure, I'm still a few years away from trading my 2012 ZL1 so I have no immediate urgency in getting a new car. I think for me it is a matter of getting used to the canards and elevated wing on ZL1-1LE. Hell, it me a year and a lot convincing from Mr. Wyndham to accept the wing spoiler on the current ZL1 from the deck mounted spoiler on my 2012.

To me a bigger concern is the LT4 / ZL1 proving itself on the track with all of you ZL1 buyers taking them to the track this summer. I know about the 11 heat exchangers / radiators and the enlarged S/C top to keep the engine cooler. I read all the journalist stories about it staying cool no matter how hard it was pushed BUT ....... this was also said about the Z06 when it was released. It was not until the Z06 was being driven by the new owners did the over heating problems start to be known after they put track time in. In time and numerous Z06 buy backs later did everyone know it was not as reliable as advertised on the track.

For me, if I was buying today, I would choose the ZL1 (non 1LE) because 98% of the time it would be street driven and I would not buy the 1LE package for just 2% usage time. Those of you that will track the 1LE package more often, I anxiously await to read your reports and opinions of what this car is truly capable of. I do hope one is available for the Lightning Lap this year so we can see how it compares against the rest of the world.
