Engine starting an LT1 SS

I am a new owner of an SS 1LE and have noticed that when starting the engine, it cranks over much longer compared to my previous LS3 in my 5th generation Camaro. I am guessing on the order of a 2 to 3 seconds longer. The LS3 would always pop right of regardless of being cold or warm. I was curious if other SS 6th generation owners have noticed that difference or if this is something that needs checked out. The engineer in my is thinking that the engine is allowed to turn over a few times to feed oil before initiating the fuel injection and spark to reduce long term mechanical wear. Any other thoughts?
