For the OP's hypothesis to be true we would need to see a comparable rise in demand for restorable 1st gen Camaros to offset the decreased demand for the 6th gen. Likewise, I would expect to see more of these restored beauties out on the street.
Sorry, but even among "car guys," the proportion of those who actually buy old cars and restore them is dwarfed by those buying stock factory-built machines.
Camaro sales are a victim of broader macroeconomic forces, not some rush to rebuild the classics.
