The older gen LTx had a totally different, deeper, sound then the LSx and current gen LTx.
I owned both a '95 Z28 and '00 SS at the same time for awhile, and both had the same SLP exhaust. They sounded completely different. I actually thought the deeper, bassier, LT1 sounded much better...it was less raspy.

In his defense it's mostly because the exhaust setups on all those cars are different. If you had the exact same system, they would probably sound similar.
