This problem doesn't just happen with our cars. I have seen this many times in other cars that I have had over the years. Yes, its a dewpoint problem. Cold defroster air cooling the windshield resulting in condensing on the outside in humid weather. I bet more then a few people have had their glasses fog up as soon as they get out of their car in humid weather. I have found adding a little heat to the defroster temp helps reduce the fogging.
