We have come up with homegrown fixes and have explained. KirkH provided the proper links.
Short answer science behind it - dew point. Air leaks out of defrost vent (confirmed by GM) even when defrost vent isn't selected. Air leaking out is lower than dew point outside. Window cools due to cooler air, dew forms on outside.
