Open diffs send all power to the wheel with the least resistance. In other words, all the power goes to the one that spins the easiest. If both are equally hard to spin, both tires get power.
Limited diffs reverse that effect and reduce power to the wheel with the least resistance.
Locked applies equal power to both wheels regardless of how much one is spinning vs the other.
edit: additionally, traction control may be still active when you are seeing your two lines. This could cause brakes to be applied to the wheel that is spinning ...increasing resistance to spin and equalizing it with the other side. Allowing an open diff to kinda emulate a limited slip at the expense of your brakes.

I turned TC off. only did it once. Dont want to break it and wear my tires down to quickly but wanted to make sure it could.
