I have both a foam cannon and a foam gun. I much prefer using the foam gun because I find it easier to maneuver around the car. I can also use the gun in my garage and not worry about getting foam all over the place. The cannon's reliance on a power washer really makes a large wash area a necessity.

In reality, it's only the foam in direct contact with the paint that does the work. I think a lot of the foam from the cannon runs off the car without ever contacting the paint and is just wasted.
