I'm aware the overlay is not a perfect representation. The telltale, as you mentioned is that the calipers are cast a bit different. If you look close, I also believe the ends of the caliper give away that they are different.

The rotor size difference is dramatic, I just can't imagine piston placement in any one of the calipers can effectively transfer force into pads and onto both sized rotors effectively (regardless of placement).

If there's a documented mention that the calipers are the same part, I'd love to read it. I like to keep as up to date as possible on things like that.

For the record....I responded initially because the OP was asking about swapping. If 1LE owners want to upgrade, go for it....but for a ZL1 owner to reduce brake size for color (as in the OP)....not good.
