I think the short answer is yes they'll be able to see that you ordered the ECM for your VIN, and I'd guess there are probably other control module logs within the car to detect the ECM swap.
In the spirit of whether you could get by with that approach, there's not been any consensus on this forum that I've seen. Some folks claim it'll work. Others claim it won't.
IMO, I think you could generally get by with that approach for non-engine warranty issues. However, in the event of a catastrophic engine failure, there's at least a chance that the dealership will want to dig a little deeper.
