Also, I wouldn't let something like this scare the crap out of you. It's windshield glass. They get chipped and crack sometimes. It's kind of a fact of life and out of your control. I think putting an aftermarket film, and especially tint, on your windshield is ill advised, especially if the reason is solely to try to mitigate the risk of chips or cracks. Have you looked into glass coverage with your insurance? It is rather cheap coverage and often included with your comprehensive coverage.
That aside, $350 for an OEM windshield is frankly dirt cheap.

True. I'm going to have a talk with my insurance company about glass coverage. They didn't offer me any coverage for the loaner. The dealer ship did me dirty i feel like because a horrible storm past through while I had the loaner and debris cracked the windshield. I felt like it wasn't my fault at all but oh well...live and learn i guess.
