It does help performance some. Yes obviously it is louder, but I'd seen dynos of them with and without, the NPP netted a few more hp. Same with the manuals. About 10-15 hp difference in the two there. Can't beat the shifting of the A8 though, even with the extra power and tq. Most just pull the fuse so it's always in track mode basically. Actually gives a little more growl in the lower rpms since the valves are always full open then.
