I went with longer studs as it gives me the option to run any spacer I want......and no, I have not installed them yet ;(

Tanks for the clarification on spacer thickness. I'm not sure I want to trim the ends of my studs.
How difficult is it to replace the studs like you want to do? Can the studs be knocked out through the back and new ones put in, or are there things like dust shields that have to be removed first?
