You'll have to trim your carpet. Also it depends on the tire. You need to look at tread width on tire rack. Some mpss tires have as much as an inch in difference between the same tire size.
Example...
295-35-20 mpss 105y k1 Ferrari has a 12 tread width
295-35-20 mpss 105y Porsche n.o has a 11.3 tread width
Same tire, different tread width.
