Well with those bombshells I'll update with the current situation.

Been without my car almost 1 week now. The mechanic was fired.

They are apologetic and of course offering to repair the damage. I saw my car tonight. It was dark so I couldn't do a thorough inspection but I did feel my rocker panels and they are creased.

This one probably isn't much of a shocker...... I offered to resolve the issue by trading in my car for a 2017 and of course throwing in a generous amount of extra money. Turns out my 1 year old $38,000 car is only worth ~ $22,000. So even though I put $10,000 down on my car I'm under water on this loan....... no way I'd roll extra debt into a new loan. I was stupid enough to buy a new car in the one I have. I've always been one to buy a 2 year old car to let the previous owner eat that initial depreciation hit.

So, doesn't seem to be any level of asshole I could reach to resolve this in the way I feel is fair and equitable. Instead I'll be forced to accept replaced rocker panels.
