I finally ordered the Genuine GM AC Delco Synthetic Gear Oil 88900401 and Friction Modifier 88900330 and flushed the diff again. The noise got better but it took about a week and finally went away. Now, cold/warm temp doesnt matter, the noise is gone. Looks like a win for going back to what GM recommends.

I'm confused. Is the current spec for 2016s to add the separate friction modifier or do they claim that the new diff fluid already has some?
