Wish they still did that with the Corvette and Camaro.

And the valet key switch was also on the side of the center console just under neath the dash on the passenger side as well. I had a friend buy a used one in '98 and I had to be the bearer of bad news that he didn't buy a true ZR1. He bought a "made one" thru his stepdad who was an administrator at a local major auto auction and the dealer who brought it did everything to the car he could to pass it as a ZR1 and was able to get away with it. The only thing he didn't do was the valet key switch. He probably didn't know about it. He had all the badging and in the right places, the wider rear fenders, the wheels and correct tire sizes, the interior ZR1 plates (I suspect the one with what number it was was taken out of a totaled one a junkyard) and even a ZR1 manual ( also probably from the one from the junkyard.) He also didn't change the VIN plates, so if the auction had done their job to verify the car, they would have caught the fraud, but they didn't.
I didn't know the Gen6 Carmaros had a valet mode on it. A power reducer would be nice on it. I also haven't been thru the menu on mine as thoroughly as I should have yet either.. But when I take mine anywhere for servicing or other work to be done, I always stand right outside the bay where the work is being done on my car. They can not do or say anything to me for being outside the garage bays. They only have rules about non employees being IN the garage bays. I watch EVERYTHING they do to my car from the time it leaves the service area to the time it returns. They don't even try to take it for a test drive when they know I'm watching everything they do. If they need to take it out, I demand to either take it myself while the tech rides or the tech drives while I ride with him, but it goes no where without me being INSIDE the car. If the dealership has an issue with me doing what I do, then I find another to take it to and repeat the process until I find one that allows me to do it my way.
