I just think that the way this motor applies power and tq we don't need really high stall converters like before. I am on stock tires so I don't know what the stock converter will flash to with traction. But I wouldn't change converters unless I swapped the cam or went to an MSD intake. That is only because of the tq loss with those products. The gearing and VVT are what it getting this thing through the 1/8th and rolling out. There is only one shift after the 1/8 for my car now. It was shifting just before the 1/8th today. So the trans and stock converter are getting it done. One thing I was going to experiment with today was converter lock up. I have some people swearing to me that keeping the converter unlocked is worth a tenth or two. A higher stall will obviously help. I just don't think it is needed to hit 10's with bolt ons. I will do what is needed to prove myself wrong if I am wrong. Anything that whittles away at e.t. is totally worth it trying to hit 10's. Ounces make pounds. There is a lot in the tunes that haven't been cracked yet and not many people are digging in to see where the real gains are, no matter how small.

Looking at my dyno graph, at 3,000rpm my motor is making roughly 95% of the peak tq number that occurs between 4,300 and 4,700rpm. I think I can close that gap with some more tuning. I would have to start a dyno run at 2K so see how bad the tq number is down there. I would say a 3,500 stall would be ideal looking at my dyno graph.
