Getting it done on the stock tires, FINALLY
I got to the track today. I was extremely disappointed that I couldn't get my DR rims to fit. I almost didn't go. Anyway, I am glad I did. I only got a couple passes in before it started raining. The car has my ported Int/TB, Roto-fab dry filter CAI, and I tuned it. It is full weight on the stock rims and tires. I had about a half tank of gas. The car was only cooled down long enough for me to air down the rear tires, air up the front tires, pull the intake manifold cover and pay to run. I got in the lanes immediately to avoid the weather. Coolant temp was in the high 190's to low 200's. The IATs were in the high 70's at the beginning of the run.
The first pass would have been in the 11.6's but it spun the 1/2 shift. The second pass was hot lapped. I stalled the car to 2K, let off the break and hit the gas pretty quickly. Since the track was so bad last time I was hesitant to get into it to hard. Looking at the log I was only seeing .91g/cyl so I was down a bit of power to my last dyno runs where I was seeing .97g/cyl. The trans was short shifting 4/5 and it was dropping the rpm down into a low timing point. I was in the middle of correcting all of that when the rain started. DA was around 0 to -200. The Kestrel was having issues depending on which way I pointed. It was closer to 0 according to the interwebs. The g/cyl really tells the story. I am very happy with the way the car preformed. I honestly think I would have been in the 11.50's if I could have implemented my tuning changes and got more aggressive with the launch. The track would have taken it today.
