Well, today I took this gorgeous Night Fall Grey out for a spin on Hwy 75. I wanted to know for sure if I was totally sold on the A-10 or if I could settle on a 6 speed.
Clutch feel was amazing as I exited the dealership and made the turnaround to hop on 75.
I was about 1/3rd on the throttle into second gear and as the back end of the car began to fishtail, I realized that there is a night and day difference between this car and the gen 5. Oh My God!! My wife was completely terrified, but maintained a subtle smirk and I was too damn much of a man to tell her that I was just as afraid for a split second. The 70 HP bump feels completely underrated. My 2013 never felt so brutally fierce and this is at about half acceleration. I ran the car through the first 5 gears and each of them was snap your neck strong and I was surprised while cruising along how much snap 4th gear has. I don't think you'll be bothered much at all by the skip-shift feature.
The car felt like I was at warp speed in 2nd and 3rd. It's an absolute smooth operator just cruising around. I can't wait to get mine. In the end, this test drive solidified two things for me. Number 1), I am going to wait on the automatic and 2) after seeing the truly mesmerizing flakes sparkle from the Night Fall Grey in the beautiful sunshine, I have now made my 3rd and final color change and the best part about it all is that my wife is in total agreement. Damn it she's a keeper.
I attached some photos which includes my mother who didn't bother to go for the ride, but loves the car. By the way, this ZL1 is available at Reliable Chevy in Richardson right now. I didn't abuse it on the test drive. Go see Rick Fore! He'll treat you right. No mark ups. The car has only Navigation as an option however.
