If it wasn't for the wife / transmission issue. 1LE all the way. I will say that the 2SS A8 with magride is a great car and does well already. For local mountain roads I don't think I need to upgrade it at all. Its good. Now for someone going to the track, the differences between the 1LE and the SS will become larger. But if you put good tires on it and maybe upgrade to the 1LE suspension then it will be closer. Cost wise, it will cost more to build your own 1LE. But doing tires alone only adds 1500 dollars and probably gets you closer to 1LE perfomance. It all depends on how much you will track it. I'm happy with my decision so far.

I did the same thing with my order, but went with better tires and an M6. Did you get the 6 pistons as well? We get slotted rotors with it and the 1LE doesn't. On the highway, you/your wife are going to be glad you have the blind spot monitoring.
