It's running a secondary port injection system to augment the factory DI system. Nothing wrong with this as it's whats needed to get much over the 1k hp mark reliably at this current point in time. It also keeps the off boost drive-ability of a stock vehicle if done correctly.
The heat is a huge issue as well. With the turbo's in the upper engine bay, they will see a lot less air movement than down beside the transmission.
I would be lying to say I didn't have a dog in the fight with my car currently undergoing work as the prototype for On3Performance but that aside, I think they could've found a better solution. It just seems like they wanted them to be top mounted so that everyone could see them.
