I've dyno tested a few drop in filters in my day. The best filter in terms of HP gain and it is really a minor gain...... wait for it.... wait for it.... wait for it...... brand new Fram. Why Fram? simple it is el cheapo filter it is very thin so there is less media to restrict air flow and the V in the pleats are deeper cause it is a cheapo thin filter. Works well enough on race day. Don't believe me eh? Just take out your GM filter go to autozone, bust out a new Fram, and come back and tell how much thinner the element is. Would I run a Fram on my ride for daily driving... heck no. Take it for what its worth, at a few points in my life I have had unlimited dyno access.
