I don't know for surely is it NEEDED.... but I know MagnaFlow and borla stated the reason they kept it was not to deal with Check Engine Lights.
I have ZERO experience with these engine adaptive valves, so if I were worried about em, leave em in. they are new to me as well, and as someone stated, some people have done that mod that keeps em open on the truck forums.
Borla stated at a later time, they may make pipes that have aftermarket valves in em for the full catback.
other than that, both companies said, they may give off CELS's on some cars. you can call and check with em, and it would prob be good to check with cellsafemode, and maybe call MRT and see what info they have on em.
