I did this once in the wet and once on dry pavement when I first began driving a rear wheel drive car (95 Z28).
I thought "watch this I'm going to be cool and tweak my front wheels so my back end will kick out sideways and then I'll just power through until it's straight".
Once the vehicle is in a slide with some momentum built up it's difficult to gain control. And momentum builds quickly with a V8. Once they realize that they are in trouble and losing control they likely lift off the gas and lock up the brakes and then all bets are off.
Bare feet doesn't matter.
p.s. I never got in an accident and it wasn't at a cars and coffee. Just my pride and a big slice of humblepie.
