I have the orifice installed right now and it did indeed eliminate the surging. (Mine was just barely noticeable surging.) I've monitored the boost curve to see if the orifice affected the response time and I see no real effect with the orifice in place. I suspect if you start pushing the SC above the canned tune, the boost response curve would be affected with the orifice in place. In the end, a custom tune is in order for me and this will be one of my items I'll want addressed.
As for your IAT code, I suggest you go do some IAT data logging with your SCT device (or other, such as Torque for Android) and report back. That code could mean that your IAT (TMAP)sensor is either not working properly or not plugged in all the way. You should be seeing roughly 100-125* F just cruising and around 160* F after a hard pull in a 85* F ambient air temp.
Another possibility is your intercooler isn't fully purged of air. (They are a bitch to purge properly.) Go to the appendix in the installation manual an follow the directions on purging the system. Took me about 5-6 cycles to get all of the air out.
BTW, I checked my TMAP sensor this weekend by letting the car get stone cold (2 days!), not starting it, and comparing the IAT (TMAP) sensor reading with coolant temp, ambient temp and IR readings off the manifold. They were all within 1*F of each other, so I now know that the TMAP is functioning correctly.
