My 9 and 6 year old sit back there all the time in those $15 booster seats. My son is more comfortable as his legs are long enough that his knees are at the end of the seat and his lower legs can bend comfortably and his feet go under the front seat. My daughter has to turn her feet one way or the other. I kinda wish the bottom section of the rear seats didn't come out so far, but I assume thats b/c of the 19 gallon gas tank underneath them. But, its more than doable, my kids never complain, and they love going in my 2016 SS.
