It's faster in the quarter mile, it has more power, etc.. The big difference is the weight and the 8 speed auto now versus my 6 speed auto in my 5th.

At the same time, the 6th gen FEELS slower. I know it's faster. I've proven time and time again it's faster. But my 5th just felt brutal, with the exhaust, long tubes, tune, and all that stuff. It was just absolutely brutal feeling in every way.

The 6th gen feels tame, almost docile. It'll pull me into the seat, but it's smooth while doing it, whereas my 5th gen would try to give you whiplash every time you left a light even remotely faster than average.

It feels like a sports car, not the brutal muscle cars I've grown up with. Everything from big lumpy cams to a blower throwing the horsepower and torque through the roof.

Is this simply because of the gearing and the transmission? Or are there other factors at play here that I'm not looking into?

You could try a throttle controller. I use the Vitesse. It makes a huge difference in feel in my opinion. I run mine at SP5, it seems most people like SP6 on theirs. The car is a lot more fun to drive with it.
