So, I sort of agree with you (as far as Camaro's I see driving around town). I've tried to be friendly and smile, or nod... I've even waved a couple of times and I get nothing. They just stare straight ahead. No interest at all.
I've become jaded now, so I find myself doing the same thing. I just pretend I don't see them.
I've only had one dude smile and nod at me. Probably because he was driving the exact same car as me.

I dont acknowledge other drivers unless I actually know them. Even then, i'd probably miss them because i dont look into other people's cars to see their faces, assuming they're not all tinted out to even see their faces.
To me, new cars dont automatically put you in some kind of group with common interests. Plus, if you start gesturing to someone they're going to want to talk to you probably and then that means you have to turn your music down to hear them and yell over traffic and i dont have time for that crap. Way better to just focus on the road and blast some metal and hope the idiot in front of you gets the message and pulls their 40 in a 55 into the right lane where its slow ass belongs.
