Nothing in the manual transmission is electronic besides the switch for the reverse lights in reverse.
All of the electronics are managed by the ECM. I am quite sure based on your dealer's advice they have no idea what an ECM is and you should never take your car there for service. They probably have never seen a tire before either.
I cannot believe how stupid people who work at these dealerships are. I mean seriously. People wonder why salesmen get such a bad rap...... Stuff like this! I mean, just..... wow.
