That explanation makes no sense as cold air would only defog the inside of the glass and frost only forms on the outside of a closed vehicle. People don't scrape frost and ice off the inside of their windows.
To defrost the outside of a glass substrate, only heat will work, because the dehumidifying effect of cold air does not pass through to the outside of the glass.
My bullsh!t meter is going off on this. Please show me another car in the GM line-up today that is doing this same thing in the Southeast US right now. There isn't one.
