When I test drove the SRT it hooked pretty well but liked to chirp the tires and felt like it had more body movement during launch and hard shifts (nose lifted and tail squatted more), these could give the illusion of a more powerful car. The camaro felt like it had more grip and less body movement, smoother and faster.
At it's extreme: We've all seen cars at the strip that can lift the front wheels off the ground and likely have seen them get beat by a faster car that stays flat and just launches level off the line. I'm sure the experience in the wheel lifting car "Feels more powerful"
