Take the car to some autocross or road course events and learn how to drive the car while doing high speed maneuvers. When you get a feel for where the car's limits are only then will you truly be able to drive the V8 versions and know how to FULLY enjoy the extra HP.

That is a good point as well. But I'm not sure the OP is not going to track the car every weekend and try to push it to the limits. If he does, great idea.
But I'm sure he just wants the power of the SS to turn the smile into a very big smile.
OP, just don't test drive the SS until you can/able to swing the deal..
