If I remember correctly, the owners manual says:

For the first 1500 miles...

- Do not exceed 4000 RPM
- Do not exceed 80 MPH
- Do not accelerate hard in a high gear at low speed (don't lug the engine)
- Do no maintain a constant RPM for an extended period of time

... I think that was it.

I admit, during my break in I hit 100 mph once, and tapped 6000 RPM a handful of times. But for the most part, I went very easy on the car and did not beat on it. I think that's basically what it boils down to... Just don't rag on it when it's brand new.

I have 1700 miles on the car, now, and according to my onstar app, I've averaged 23 MPG over the lifetime of the car. That's not bad considering 80% of my driving is off the freeway. It also leads me to believe that I've been relatively gentle on the car up to this point.
