Right up front I'm going to say that I don't disagree that this is a problem but...
I don't live in an area with this problem but sometimes you have to help yourselves. If you are concerned about your safety then take action to make yourselves safer. Hopefully Chevy will come up with a solution but be proactive. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
If it were me, I would be concerned to, but I would also find a way to prevent it. I might go find a dash mat to cover the vents or make my own.
