Deceleration Tuning

This is a tuner question asked by someone who doesn’t know a lot about tuning and I have never heard of this particular problem being discussed. Veh: ’16 2LT RS, M6. I’m looking for the reason why, while decelerating (or downshifting), I’m not feeling the car slow down in a linier or consistent manner. It changes between decelerating by engine compression and just coasting. Got to have something to do with either emissions or fuel economy. Can a tune cure this frustrating problem? Thanks for any input.
