I think the logic goes:
On average, Camaro was pricier than Mustang for 5th gen and 6th gen. I saw GT's for under 30k regularly and Camaros were almost always at least 32k for an SS.
More young people bought Mustang. It was a more unwieldy car to drive with that live axle.
More young people crashed Mustang.
Rates went up.
Even though Camaro outsold Mustang for most of 5th gen. That's my guess. My Camaro cost about as much as my 4 door ATS 2.0T, which is weird to me. Michigan is so terrible for insurance though... and being under 25 makes it even worse.
