The reviews that I've seen, plus in talking to the owners, the 11-14 Mustangs are slightly faster than the '15-16's. One of my good friend's step-dad has a '14 ZL1, it's a bad ass car, no doubt. He's let me drive it and I've let him drive mine. Without a doubt they are both awesome cars to own. We've even raced each other a few times and from 0-60 we are dead even, from there he starts pulling on me. By the time I hit 100, his back bumper has about a foot on my front bumper. And this isn't due to any lack of his ability to drive, they really are just that close. It doesn't hurt that his car is just over 4000lbs and mine is barely over 3600 (ship weight was 3590). I've also got 3" duals (X-pipe) and single chamber mufflers, and his is bone stock. Both are manuals. He so impressed with and likes mine so much that he's just waiting for '17 ZL1 factory orders to open up to place his order. I do totally dig the 14-15 1LE's and ZL1's, just don't care for the interior. I'm just a firefighter/paramedic so I don't have money for the higher end 2SS or ZL1. My plans are to take my almost bare bones 1SS, put 4.10's in the rear, do some suspension work, intake, TB, CAI, headers and a tune, ZL1 machined faced wheels with Nitto 555 G2's 315/35r20, 275/35r20. I figure it will get me 475rwhp and mid-low 11's in the 1/4m.

Everything is to each his own, we all bought the cars we did because we liked them
You really don't have any idea what you are talking about, there is no way a stock '11-'14 Mustang GT 5.0 412-420 HP car could beat a 580 HP 5th. gen Camaro ZL1, that is BS, if you where comparing it to the 5th. gen SS then I would have believe you, because it's the truth, probably you run against a less experienced driver who did not know how to remove the T.C. or the ZL1 had its rear tires completely wasted, it does not make sense, and this is coming from some one that owned a '11 Mustang GT 5.0 and now a ZL1. With my ZL1 I have left at least 3 Mustang GT 5.0 3-5 cars behind my car.
