I don't think you can make a bad decision here. I've owned a few 5th gens, two of which were ZL1's. They are awesome cars. If you live in a warm climate, no winters, and you plan on tracking the car go with the ZL1. If you plan on daily driving and you have winters go with the 6th gen SS. The 6th gen SS feels as fast as my ZL1's.
