People seem to confuse insurance with "magic blanket coverage that covers every single last flaw." Just exercise a little common sense and think of how ridiculously out of hand things would get if people filed claims against the littlest scratch.

There's a whole world of things out there ready to cause more serious damage than simple curb rash -- mainly nails and stray objects in the road. The investment is still valid IMO because 90% of the time it's totally out of your control to avoid.

Unrelated side note: If you need to replace your tires, look into BFGoodrich g-Force COMP tires. They are all-seasons, but based on a lot of reviews on Camaro5, it performs comparably to summer-only tires and has a lot more grip during cold months. If you're super super competitive with your car at the strip or track, obviously there are better options, but for most normal driving, it's the best of both worlds. I'm considering these also for the fact that they don't pick up nails as easily as my thinner, sticker Goodyear Eagle F1's.
