Mirror tap is definitely a good way of doing it. I prefer hardwire kit with the escort for the mute button, especially since the phone sits in the back on the wireless charger.

Not sure if you knew this or not, but there's a mute button on the front of the radar detector. It's a small square on the right side of the display, assuming you have a 8500 or 9500 of course.
