Found some info out about the Adaptive Valves...
Just got some info from MagnaFlow today but I figured some may or may not can use. I called them to ask about the Adaptive valves and why they chose NOT to take them out, as on the MRT setup. They said with tuning, if CELs do come on they can be tuned out.
From what I got from Jared who I talked to was that the Adaptive valves are there for three different reasons: Sound Performance and Emissions. The sound part is pretty obvious. The valve open and closes depending on which mode the car in V4 or V6.
For the performance side everyone pretty much knows that the valves open like a throttle body blade when the car is at Full Throttle or under a heavy load during acceleration. This goes without saying.
However on the emissions side for some of you this may bug you or bother you and for the rest of you probably don't care. The valves usually stay closed during the initial cold start startup. The reason for this is it restricts the airflow to a degree that helps the catalytic converters warm up to operating temp giving it the emissions Advantage it needs to stay a low emissions vehicle. I believe on the v8's this is how they avoid the guzzler tax in part. I know some people live in areas where they don't have strict emissions and some people just generally don't care so it's up to you. Just a heads up though, MagnaFlow said that the valves can possibly throw a code if removed.
Now obviously I haven't removed mine so I don't know if this is true for all cars or not, given some have said their cars didn't come with em. But according to them they said this is the reason that they are leaving the valves in in the axle back currently. later on however they may produce a set of cat backs that have the valves included or they will install their own valves similar to how stainless works did them on the Camaro SS for 2016.
I know some areas especially cali, emissions are more strict where as some just plug the obd2 and as long as the CEL isn't on, things pass.
Just doin my research...
Just some info found out today about em.
