My rule of thumb for track use is recommended weight and recommended brand. In this case, the weight would depend on the season where you're at and outside temp. Heavier weight oil on the hot days in the summer. Lighter oil in spring and fall. Most important is to change your oil often. Monitor the oil temps while your running. Definitely take your time on the cool down lap and maybe let it idle a bit before shutting down. I also pop the hood once I pull back into the pits.

If your running synthetic in the car regularly, then I suggest running the same brand synthetic oil. Some synthetics oils do not like to be mixed. Not an issue if you're running dino for either daily or track. You can mix synthetic and dino without issues.
