The 6th gen V6 Camaro is capable of low 5s 0 - 60 runs. Just b/c "real" owners here may or may not have gotten them doesn't mean the car isn't capable. (By the way...some have indeed gotten mid - low 5s)
I was heavy into the V6 scene with my 5th gen V6. I loved that car, and it was pretty modded for an n/a V6 (not that there were a LOT of mods) I basically had everything except long tube headers (exhaust, cold air intake, ported T/B, ported intake manifold, manifold spacer, tune). Guys with full bolt ons/ tune, and drag radials haven't broken into the very low 13s in the 5th gen V6. I think the LFX is capable of it, but its not been recorded on Camaro5 to my knowledge. The best time for a modded n/a V6 listed on Camaro5 is 13.4 at 102mph. Some cars have seen 103 - 104 but with slightly slower ETs.
This car has seen several 13.6 - 13.7 bone stock runs at 102 - 103. I'd bet money with simple bolt ons and tune, and stock tires it will match or beat the best 5th gen V6 times, and likely run 2 - 3 mph better.
250+ pounds lighter with slightly better top end power = faster. With the automatic V6s, they have an even greater advantage with that 8 speed auto. Mark my words, we will see someone take an N/A Camaro V6 with bolt ons/tune/tires and it will run very low 13s. With skinnies up front and maybe a slight weight reduction we'll see very high 12s.

Yeah, I know the 6th gen is slightly faster due to the lighter curb weight and the better geared slick shifting A8. However, there is a member on here who posted his 0-60 times in cool weather with his 5th gen LFX M6 and got a low to mid 5 sec 0-60. These are around the same times that the 6th gen V6 is reportedly achieving in magazine tests. So, either he is lying about his times or the LFX M6 is faster than most people think, at least from 0-60.
Sure, the 200- 300 lb weight disadvantage of the 5th gen will certainly slow its 1/4 mile time compared to the lighter 6th gen, but the LGX isn't that much faster on the top end. A slightly better flowing intake with an ever so slight of a smidgen bore increase by a mm or two. However, the couple of a tenths performance increase is primairily due to the lighter curb weight and better geared A8 transmission, if so equipped. But, we're comparing M6's here so the advantage of the 8-speed automatic is lost in this case.
As for if this is a serious comment, it is. GM has done this before in the past and I wouldn't put it past them. Take a 6th gen 6-speed manual V6 off the dealer's lot and test it. That would be the only way to know the real world performance. Now, I'm not saying the 6th gen V6 is not faster, it clearly is. But, exactly by how much, still remains to be seen.
Perhaps I'll get the privilege to have my butt handed to me by a 6th gen V6 manual, I don't know. One thing I do know is that our LFX's don't have 100% throttle until 4K rpms. And, that throttle restriction has to hamper the 0-60 times. I wonder if the LGX has the same throttle restriction too? I bet it doesn't.
