CAI Cold Air Intake...Special
I installed my CAI cold air intake a couple weeks ago and it works just fine. Someone who saw it said it was the best looking cai he had seen and it looked OEM. Knowing the GM is some day going to release their OEM cold air intake and it "just happens" to look exactly like CAI's product, I thought I would try to make the drag strip crowd to think it is the GM Chevrolet Performance intake. So, my local sign shop made up the plastic signs you see in the pictures and, to my eyes, it looks pretty much like it is a factory item or dealer installed option. What do you think?
I had my sign shop guy fashion the tag after the aluminum one on the radiator shroud that says "logo" Performance. I had it made up in white with red letters and the beveled edges are also red. Pretty neat don't you think?
As an aside to this little DIY, I removed the lid from the CAI unit before I drove to the sign shop to pick up the signs and was surprised that my car was running very poorly. It felt like it was running out of gas, but I had plenty. I could only suspect that the lid being off was the problem. I re-installed the lid and the car ran fine. Is it possible that without the lid, the ECU was confused by the Air to Fuel ratio change (if it did change)?
