It's just missing that torque in between a few degrees of light peddle travel.
Sucks that it would require a tune to fix. warranty concerns make me very hesitant considering it's a 1st year car. Unlike a physical part, it's hard to prove manipulating the ecu didn't cause some random future engine issue.

Supposedly the Vitesse Throttle Controller fixes the issue. I think it manipulates the sensitivity of the throttle - and it's not a tune so shouldn't impact the warranty.
Do you have a manual or the automatic transmission? I'm curious if it is the same in both?
