Unfortunately, what happens online is that you get a vocal minority vs. many more members who don't post about how well build their car is because they're just busy enjoying it. So what you read (especially if you only frequent this section), is skewed from reality. If you notice, there are far more people using the website who are enjoying every moment of a near-flawless Camaro experience. You have a much higher chance of getting a car that is perfectly fine, than you do of getting one with a problem.

Also, "fixes" don't just happen model year-to-model year anymore. They make running changes while the car is in production. Many of the issues that have surfaced from early builds have already been addressed (if they weren't isolated flukes). So waiting for 2017 won't really make a massive difference.

You have to ask yourself - what are the chances of getting a car with problems? And how long can you really wait?
I by no means expect it to be perfect, I just don't want it spending more time at a dealer than at my house. My GTO is the only car I bought new and I think I needed to bring it to the dealer 2 or 3 times max for warranty issues.

I've put on just about 600 miles now in a week of ownership and the car has been fantastic. I found a minor paint issue that I'm going to have looked at. (small bubbles or craters in the clear coat, maybe solvent pop, less than the size of a pencil eraser in the laser weld on the roof) Other than that nothing so far. I love this car!
The paint issues and the noises are my biggest worries. Mechanical parts can be replaced but I hate messing with factory paint (Even if it is orange peely).

Trust me, I came from a 06 GTO as well. It's outrageous the improvement this car is over the VZ. The comfort along with the handling is nothing I've ever felt before.
Glad to hear. I was washing my car the other day for the first time this year after hibernation and I realized it just doesn't do it for me the way it once did. I drove it and thought the same.

What year was yours and did you end up trading it in or selling it yourself? To me the trade is probably the better option.
