most racers stay at the Hampton Inn/Suites Indy Airport, or Hilton Garden Inn Indy Airport or Holiday Inn Indy Airport. All are fairly new hotels.
I'm oncall that week and trying to get it swapped with someone on my team. The racing is awesome with about 20 different classes it seems. Also, you want to enter the car show. Cost of entering the car show, and general admission is the same.. difference is that you get to keep an eye on your car, along with packing it full of food and drinks. The car show is at the main grand stands.
